Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

When the photo challenge for this week landed in my inbox,
I did not have to think long before 

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, 

in Berlin,

came to mind.

As we walked through the 2,711 concrete slabs…

meant to be confusing and disorienting...
a chill crept up my spine.

 Any reminder of the Holocaust and the atrocities during WWII…
is Eerie indeed.
In response to the memorial for six million Jews, 
Martin Walser, a German novelist,
 referred to it as a "ceaseless presentation of our shame".

A heart rending 4.7 acre sloping field,
and another example of what makes Berlin so intriguing.
