“Under certain circumstances there are few hours more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” ― Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady

Having enjoyed a few afternoon teas here in Scotland with friends,
while in London with 'the foodie' and her roomie,
it was nice to spend...
with Ren Man in tow.
He is so cute in a bow tie don't you think.
This custom of Afternoon Tea is thought to have been the brilliant idea of the 4th Duchess of Bedford
to aid her through the afternoon 'sinking feeling'.
What began as tea and a light snack served to her in her room, she then invited friends to join her and eventually the group was large enough to begin serving afternoon tea in the drawing room.
Thank you Duchess for being such a social butterfly.

Being on best behavior, I refrained from snapping too many photos,
but found this short video to help you experience
the full grandeur of the Thames Foyer of the Savoy.

Happy Tuesday.
