Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual

I am so sorry, but I can NOT say that word
without this getting stuck in my head...
Tom Jones, known around here as...
Sir Thomas John Woodward...
hales from Wales...
and was much younger, as I,
 when this song debuted.
Just looking at the audience makes me feel young.
"It's not unusual, it happens everyda-aay."

Anwho...
this photo does happen everyday...
 in Scotland.
However,
we were cruising down Grafton Street...
in Dublin, Ireland.
The Scotland-Ireland Rugby match took place later that day
and the town was filled with proud men in skirts.
This particular group of men were like movie stars with shoppers crowding around...
asking to have their photos taken with them.
They were not the only ones drawing a crowd on this lively street.
This guy was so still...
he managed to attract a bird, yes, the bird is real.
This is not product placement...
Burger King just sadly happened to be in the background.

These guys...
were quite impressive!

in the background, was our destination for a look around.

Started on the grounds of an old monastery, All Hallows, the college has survived quite a disruptive past and has educated some famous folks.
To many, Trinity College is considered a Sacred Destination because of the Book of Kells, which is a book (actually bound in 4 volumes) containing 680 pages of the four Christian Gospels...
beautifully illustrated.
I am a bit bummed that we did not take the time to see these but a definite destination on our next visit.
Instead...
we opted for the used book sale going on...
notice Ren Man's restraint...
hands in pockets.

"On the right side of the square is Sir William Chambers's theater, or Examination Hall, dating from the mid-1780s, which contains the college's most splendid Adamesque interior, designed by Michael Stapleton. The hall houses an impressive organ retrieved from an 18th-century Spanish ship and a gilded oak chandelier from the old House of Commons. Concerts are sometimes held here."  Sacred Destinations (see link above)

I love walking around college campuses, especially those with the character of age.
If this campus could tell a story, oh what a dramatic story it would be.
Finally allowing Catholics to apply for admission without first becoming a Protestant in 1873, and much to the dismay of former provost George Salmon, women were admitted as full members in 1904.

With the benefit of history...
hopefully I can age in a world where education is for ALL...
and all God's people say
 AMEN!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
