While we are on the subject of existing on a diet starved of our south of the border comfort food...
we finally sampled the often recommended London Soho Wahaca...
billed as Mexican Market Eating of Thomasina Miers.
The misspelling of Oaxaca alone led me to believe, wrongly I admit,
that this would be no different than other Mexican restaurants
outside of Texas promising a taste of Mexico.
With the first bite of the pork pibil taco...
I knew we had found a spot on the British Isles...
that rivals our favorite food truck back in Texas.
In fact, there are authentic Mexican items on the menu that are closer to dining options in Mexico.
Downstairs...
below the restaurant...
our fan status was sealed when we visited the Azulito Tequila Bar...
where they steer clear of tequila shots and instead present it as a drink to be savored.
Thomasina Miers' recipe for the spicy, tomato-ey sangrita,
often served alongside tequila...
is spot on, and not often found so adeptly prepared outside of Mexico.
Both the food and the ease in pronoucing its name,
make this restaurant easy to love.
Happy Tuesday.
Thanks for this post, Vicki! I will remember this, and I can't wait to try it :-)
