Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

As if I needed much prompting...
one enticing reason for my research trip to Chamonix was the possibility of coinciding with a visit to see a recent remodeling...
actually REpurposing project in nearby Morzine.

My friends, hereafter known as 'the Aussies', have beautifully transformed two floors of rooms whose past life was the Combe Humbert, ski hotel...
into a very chic French Chalet for their family to enjoy for years to come.

The drive through the alps from Chamonix to Morzine was filled with evergreens standing proudly...
watching the cars weave through villages whose population swells during the winter and summer months.

As I began to assemble my photos for this weeks photo challenge...
visions of green appeared everywhere...
but were also enjoyed by my tastebuds.
I was welcomed into 'the Aussies' new home and promptly introduced to Chartreuse...

green herbal liqueur made by the Carthusian Monks since 1605.
What better way to toast their hard work.
Champagne maybe?
Oiu, merci'.

After their chalet was well 'toasted'...

we enjoyed a charcuterie including pickles(un), of course
picnic style, as they have not completely moved in and were kind enough to let me have a peek anyway.

Believe me, we were in no way, roughing it.

More than once, while walking into the village, we came across these chickens(deux) happily playing in the green lawn,
which explains why roast chicken is so wonderful in France.
They begin with a very handsome and happy bird.

Trois is evidence of why I am a bit green with envy.
Each morning, their view from the balcony is centerstage for the sunrise and surrounding mountain views.

Lac Montriond(quatre), only a few miles away, is stunning.
Where shades of green relect into crystal blue water.

'The Aussies' promise to give their chalet a name worthy of its location and also impart the loving efforts they have put into a place where their family can all come together and make memories.  I can hardly wait to see what they come up with.

A huge thank-you
for sharing their special get-away with me!

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
