“....there are more different sausages in Germany than there are breakfast foods in America, and if there is a bad one among them then I have never heard of it. The run in size from little fellow so small and pale and fragile that it seems a crime to eat them to vast and formidable pieces that look like shells for heavy artillery. And they run in flavor from the most delicate to the most raucous, and in texture from that of feathers caught in a cobweb to that of linoleum, and in shape from straight cylinders to lovely kinks and curlycues.” H.L. Mencken (1880-1956)

Finding tasty food and drink while in Heidelberg is not a problem and the selection does not stop at beer and sausages.
However tempting it might be to exist on those two all weekend long...
we did branch out, but only after Ren Man discovered a much talked about...
Please make note of the three sizes shown above because the only size missing is the small which is a what I consider a normal mug of beer.
So...
FYI...
'Half' is NOT a half liter...
as it is here in the UK.

When our mugs, or should I say pitchers of beer were delivered, I was happy we knew what a keg was and did not order that!

The atmosphere was upbeat and clearly popular with the university population...
was a nice touch.

The next day we stumbled across Papi and enjoyed decent Italian...
and then later that night dined at a typical German restaurant...

Our time in Heidelberg was filling...
literally...
and figuratively,
because we left filled with the Christmas spirit just in time for advent.

Happy weekend!
