My Aberdeen Monday...

As we entered His Majesty's Theatre...
the same question kept repeating over and over in my head...
I may have even uttered it once or twice aloud to Ren Man.
Why did it take over a year for us to attend an event here...
at this incredible Edwardian theatre?
Completed in 1906, it is built entirely of granite.

Filled with more than your average...
you can enjoy a bite to eat and the views at 1906 Restaurant
before stopping by the Dress Circle Bar, which really is a 'circle bar' made of Italian marble...
for a pre-theatre cocktail and even pre-order your intermission beverage.
Then there is the snack corner to tide you over until ice cream is sold at intermission.

One sign of the changing times is the unmanned cloak room...
where this contraption has replaced the human cloak room clerk.
You run the wire cord through the sleeve of your jacket and into the key hole to receive your cloak ticket or key necessary to retrieve your property without wire cutters.
The theatre itself seats around 1500 patrons...
some who have supported this beautiful venue over the years and may even have a seat...
 somewhere in the house.

It is reported that the theatre has a resident ghost named Jake. If you want to search for Jake yourself,
there are Ghost Walk tours at the theatre the night of October 30th.
Spoooooooky!

Happy Monday!
