My Aberdeen Monday...

Back in the U.K. just in time to watch Olympic track events in real time.

Therefore...
we return to the weekly focus on Aberdeen and all that it has to offer.

Visiting friends helped me find this treasure hidden amongst two shopping malls I frequent often,
but had never, ever noticed before.
Built in the 16th century,
the oldest surviving town house in the city,
Provost Skene's House became a museum in 1953 after being the residence of a Provost and a Duke and even a hostel for the homeless.
Walking through each room of the home, you get a glimpse of life in another era, and develop an appreciation for those who fought to save this home from the wrecking ball.
Highlights for me are the amazing painted ceiling in the painting gallery and the very cool cave cafe.

All of this and free admission.

Happy Monday!
