"Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time." ~ Steven Wright

Ft. William is the end of the road for many who hike the
usually beginning south in Milngavie,
so when we arrived by steam train and taxied to our hotel...
I was inspired to return to this city one day...
on foot.
While dining in the amazing restaurant at the hotel/art gallery...
overlooking Loch Linnhe...
celebratory clinks could be heard as people toasted their completion of the long hike...
or having bagged the nearby munro...
Ben Nevis.

Yes, we will return...
and when we walk into town with nothing more that a backpack...
we will toast our accomplishment at the Lime Tree Hotel.

Meanwhile, the next morning...
we had a train to catch...
taking us through the halfway mark of the West Highland Way amongst many hikers on their way back to where they started.
We traveled on to Glasgow...
where we stayed just long enough to visit the cathedral before hopping back on the train and heading back to Aberdeen...
completing Road Trip #1
 with Pappaw and the Q-tips.
They were such troopers and after a couple days of unwinding at home we were off again.

Happy Thursday.
