'My Aberdeen' Monday

First things first...
'the foodie' turns a year older today

and we are celebrating in Glasgow and her morning began with a Scottish Tunnocks tea cake.

Wanting to stick with the new Monday posts about Aberdeen...
today I am ashamed to admit that it took an entire year for me to finally make it to Aberdeen Art Gallery.

I have walked right past this building multiple times,
never realizing the treasures waiting...
like the "Oval Form Trezion", a rectangular marble fountain, that welcomes you to the gallery...

to be enjoyed by all ages.

The 'Open Me' boxes seem to tempt the younger visitors, and me, of course...

like a present under the tree and you are immediately drawn into the painting hanging above each treasure box...
as you search for the items lurking within.

The Van Gogh and other personal collections are amazing and one walking through can't help but admire the possibility of having a Vettriano hanging above the sofa.

What I am most amazed by is the beauty of the space...

with a small cafe, an excellent gift shop, and free admission.

If you have the time, ask for a docent to give you the history on this painting by John Phillip.

Quite an interesting political statement.

Happy Monday!

-on the road again...
