This post would have an entirely different slant to it if I had written it after attempting to shop at Harrods...
when the family was in London during their huge summer sale.
All 500 acres of space filled with shoppers just happy to be inside this shoppers paradise...
whose motto is..
Omnia Omnibus Ubique—
All Things for All People, Everywhere
Even the men, looked like little birds with their mouths open... gaping at the architecture...
the merchandise...
and yes...
the price tags!
While the men walked around in a daze...
it was the women who showed perseverance...
"Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase."
~Erma Bombeck
After moving at a snails pace...
through the Cosmetic Hall packed like sardines...
we made our way to the Food Hall...
where we sadly retreated...
empty handed...
to the exit door.
I felt as if I had failed Erma and vowed to return.
Fortunately...
my friend and I did return while in London two weeks later...
to the opening day of their
Christmas World...
with their very own skating rink on the roof.
We had breathing room to shop...
and enjoyed lunch...
overlooking the Food Hall...
where customers can purchase anything from jams and jellies...
to fresh produce...
to teas and coffees...
an incredible selection of cheese...
and that is just the Food Hall.
Have you ever had the pleasure of banoffee pie...
bananas, toffee, chocolate...
you get the picture.
Incredible!
There are 330 departments...
and I am pretty sure it would take days to see them all...
in an efficient, comprehensive manner.
Definitely a must see on any trip to London.
Hopefully, you have added a few items...
to visit on your first or next trip to this brilliant city.
One final stop on 'the editor's' list...
while in London...
was to visit Harry at Hogwarts.
Have a peace-filled week-end!
