"Marfa, situated on a high plateau of the Chihuahuan Desert surrounded by three mountain ranges, can claim an unusual statistic - the town’s population equals roughly half its altitude." ~ Marfa Chamber of Commerce

When asked if Marfa is worth the time necessary to arrive in this laid-back mecca, I pause.
As mentioned before...
it is not for everyone.
If you can handle shops that are open when they're there and closed when they're not...
wide open skies overlooking a community with an abnormal number  of creative people, who are proud of their little town that swells in size on the weekends...
and walking or biking around to just 'hang out' and enjoy this small quirky town vibe,
then you might be a fan.

Here are some of my faves.
Yes...
someone lives in this boat parked in a trailer park!
L-O-V-E it!
Makes doing your laundry something to look forward to.
This grocery store got high ratings from 'the foodie'.
While enjoying the music, we had the pleasure of sharing an umbrella table with the mayor of Marfa and his lovely wife and Marfa native.
After traveling the world with the U.S. Airforce...
they are now ideal ambassadors for Marfa.

Then...
there are those mysterious Marfa Lights...
which did not perform, unless you count lights in the distance that vaguely looked like high powered flashlights blinking on a mountainside.
Although...
it was hysterical standing there looking intently as others stood nearby whispering and pointing.

Not one to be left out...
this middle of nowhere Prada store,
which is actually thirty minutes outside of Marfa...
offers the perfect litmus test.

If you are asking why?
Most likely you won't get Marfa.
On the other hand...
if you are asking why not?
You should hop in your car or book your flight right this instant and head to Marfa.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
