"The success of this work really relies on meeting like-minded people." TOMS on Twitter

After being teased by the nightlife on Abbot Kinney,
a return the next morning was necessary for two reasons.

First things first...
we needed a nutritious breakfast and looked no further than...
where their whole attitude about food makes you feel better.
Maybe it was the idea of having...

that made me feel like a youngster on spring break,
but the server assured me it was the result of drinking the green concoction, made palatable by chasing it down with apple juice.
Definitely a better way to start the day.

Secondly,
a visit to the newly opened Tom's Flagship Store...
in Venice...
where it all began back in 2006.
Not just a place to buy shoes, you can have a chat over a cup of coffee on the green turf covered back patio.

A longtime fan of Tom's original concept of one-for-one...
I have watched as other companies have used the same formula leading to even more collaborations resulting in more love being shared around the world.
For example, early on he organized a shoe drop where medical organizations were providing anti-parasitic medication to shoeless children in Africa to prevent soil-transmitted intestinal parasites.
Just one example of the true heart of this company.

What a great place to hang out...
but until you are able to visit...
check out the blog to keep you in the loop of all the cool opportunities available.

Happy Thursday.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details

Because of the location of 'the editor's' home in Santa Monica...
Main Street, and its varied offerings...
pop-up store to help youth unemployment
is usually where most of my free time is spent.

However,
this trip, our dinner at the fabulous Gjelina (where it was too cool to take photos without embarrassing the youngsters)
and a nightcap at The Other Room (where the bouncer asked for my I.D. and is now my new favorite person)
reintroduced me to Abbot Kinney Boulevard in nearby Venice, CA.

Such a happening place,
and the provider of my contribution to
This shop is full of random details, new and old, and I would love to be lost in there for awhile.

Unfortunately,
Bountiful
window shopping was the only option at that hour.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
