Sydney Harbour...
a liquid playground...
was too tempting to ignore...
so we hired a boat...
to explore the neighborhoods...
surrounding the harbour...
perfectly framed...
at our leisure.
Climbing the bridge...
never occurred to us...
when seeing the city from the water was an option.
Our marina was located next to the Garden Island Naval Base...
where the impressive new helicopter landing dock, the HMAS Canberra lives.
Once workshops for boilermakers, plumbers, fitters, painters, riggers, carpenters and sail makers,
the Waterview Wharf Workshops now house creatives whose products are much less tangible but a sign of the times.
The beautiful site of the historical Thomas Walker Convalescent Hospital
is now a school for children with emotional disorders.
In isolated Bantry Bay,
the explosives magazines are still standing as a reminder of their purpose in 1911.
While searching for a place to anchor for the night...
we provided an audience for some new friends...
who braved the chill in the air for some fun in one of the many coves.
Fortunately for us,
our first attempt was not welcomed by the neighborhood watch bird...
because our search led us here...
where we anchored in plenty of time to watch the sunset...
and awoke as the sun rose above the trees enveloping our serene setting.
After whispering through breakfast...
this guy, who I have appointed "entrepreneur of the year" pulls up...
with fresh coffee, ice cream and newspaper.
RenMan purchased two of these with glee.
What a magical morning...
in Fig Tree Cove.
Once we ventured back out into the harbour...
the solitude was replaced with Sunday fun-day.
With the wind as heavy as the traffic,
we made our way back to the marina
for more adventures on land.
