"Berlin is the newest city I have come across. Even Chicago would appear old and gray in comparison." ~ Mark Twain, Chicago Daily Tribune, 1892

There is nothing like a stroll through a lovely park.
So, I thought my parting post for Berlin should take you down a few of the fourteen miles of pathways
in what used to be a royal hunting ground…
Tiergarten.
Just last year a memorial was inaugurated
to the hundreds of thousands of Gypsies
killed by the Nazi's during the Holocaust
where a fresh flower is left every day in remembrance.

While Rick Steves refers to Berlin
as "a city of memories…and memorials…from a horrible war",
Berlin has left us with pleasant memories
of a city working overtime to heal itself.
