Weekly Photo Challenge: Delicate

If you had told me I would one day yearn for a Schwibbogen...
I might have thought you were telling a dirty joke.

Until our visit to Heidelberg, Germany, I was aware of cuckoo clocks and...
the pyramids like the one Ren Man's grandmother had gifted us years ago.

Intricate woodwork mixed with the simple hot air propulsion for the propeller above always intrigued me, but never inspired a desire for more German decorations.

That is, until we wandered into Kathe Wohlfahrt's shop.
Maybe it was the gluhwein...
but the carved nativity scenes underneath an archway of candles were so delicate and unlike the cheap replicas seen in gift shops elsewhere in the world,
these displayed amazing craftsmanship.
So...
I purchased a small one for our mantel,
but when we returned to Aberdeen and placed it above the fireplace...
it was overwhelmed like a small deer lost and hidden
 in the woods of greenery.
Although, humble...
like that very first Christmas,
it did not have the presence a nativity scene deserves today.

Ren Man, noticed my disappointment and a few days later...
walked into our flat yelling "Merry Christmas"...
holding a large box from the very shop we discovered in Heidelberg.

The natural woods are combined beautifully to set the stage for the perfect Christmas scene...
front and center...
where the nativity belongs this season don't you think.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
