"Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness." ~Ray Bradbury

We left from point A, Aberdeen, to eventually arrive at point B, Isle of Skye.
However, nothing in between was scripted, other than...
our attempt to never retrace our path...
taking no road twice, when possible.

Armed with two bound books of knowledge.
One geographical and objective...
although I don't know why because Ren Man prefers to follow his nose...
and the other, personal opinion, subjective, but in sync with our tastes...
Peter Irvine can be my travel agent anyday.

This informative book was suggested to me on my first visit to Aberdeen by the warm, friendly owner of Hammerton Store where the feel is that of an upscale general store. I can always find of a reason to visit Hammertons.

Anyway...
those were our rules...
no, much too demanding for a road trip...
our guidelines for our weekend travels through the Scottish Highlands.
There was a bit of traffic getting out of town...
but we shifted into mosey mode...
and got into the groove of this monument...
"AS STILL SKIES OR STORMS UNFOLD
TAKE A MOMENT TO BEHOLD"
With views like this it was very hard to keep our eyes on the road but even the road ahead provided a bit of nostalgia...
the poster child of a ROAD TRIP!!!
Wait a minute!  Those are my initials...
that's the VW we should be trippin' in.

With no specific place in mind to stop for the night, we kept seeing a very interesting town...
Ullapool, just the sound of it mixed with the fun my mouth was having as I repeated it over and over...
was like a magnet pulling us towards the harbour...
and right then and there I knew we had discovered a gem.
Having driven for hours, the skies were still blue but it was close to 9:00 p.m. and the sun would not set for another hour or so.
Our travel book led us to this eclectic inn with personality plus  and a bustling restaurant and sliver of a bar.  Many weekends you will hear live music floating out the windows, but this weekend...
The Ceilidh Place was filled with hungry and thirsty customers getting to know each other and needing a comfy place for their weary heads.

Come by and visit tomorrow as our road trip continues...
