“The best airplane ever made” – Navy Lt. Cdr. Bob Fults

My post about dad's birthday appeared for a few hours on May 12th, but then became a casualty of the blogger crash...
so far no sign of it...
out there in blogger world...
This is very ironic given the fact that the year of his birth...
when the Roaring 20's came to a screeching halt...
was the beginning of another crash which would consume the U.S.A. for 12 years!
Anyway, here is my attempt to recreate that post...
a segue for today...

In 1929...
before Black Thursday or Black Tuesday...

before the first Academy Awards...
when "Wings" was presented the award for "Most Outstanding Picture"...
another star was born...
Happy Birthday Daddy!
You are 18...
with 64 years of experience!

Even though I am now living abroad...
I still receive the Houston Groupons...
so when the email arrived, offering a ride on the...
DC 3 Southern Cross... click on the link for a wonderful video about Bob Fults, quoted above...
it was a done deal!
The plane was impressive...
proudly sitting with its nose up...
and you know men and big toys...
their excitement was mixed with memories of the last time they were passengers on one of these...
as they "fell in" and cruised the skies.

What a reminder to always honor those who are currently serving our country...
those who served in the past...
and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
I will be traveling on Memorial Day so this is my shout out to all of those brave men and women.
Thank you!
