Discovering Scotland

The best way to discover another part of the world is to move there, and that is what my husband and I are in the process of doing.  We are in Aberdeen looking for the perfect place to hang our cowboy hat.  Of course, neither of us owns a cowboy hat but we might buy one just to hang in our home away from home.

Our dilemma is whether or not we want to live in the granite city or out in the breathtaking countryside.  We have been driven by our most gracious relocation specialist, Gill, over every inch of the city and a large area outside of Aberdeen.  My favorite in the country, house...

I know...charming right!  Keith could see my imagination at mach speed when he asked if internet was available and the realtor told us she would check on that.  His next question to her was how the dirt, hilly road was maintained during the snow days and she smiled sweetly as she explained that it was quite easy to find one of the nearby farmers to plow the road if you find you can not leave or arrive.

Needless to say, as we drove away, my mind was filled with what could have been.  Did I mention that the front door was one of those half doors where you can open only the top so that the dog we don't own can not get out or in.  Yes, I could have been very happy for a month in that house.

We have narrowed our search to one house in the west end of the city... with views like this..

which is very near the harbor, therefore the seagull, which remind me of Galveston...

and this view from the guest bedroom...

and one house out in the village of Cults...which is near the pastoral sheep above and walking distance to the BEST french coffee shop/delicatessen Terroir.

Meanwhile...we are in temporary housing which is quite comfy.  Views from our windows...
 and...
I have been looking for Mary Poppins...they say she does pop up north every now and again...
