Our days were spent galavanting around by ferry and train, 

while our nights took us into the New Forest and kept us nearby at the Mayflower Theatre.

we were driven to the country 
for a culinary experience at its sister hotel...

where it is ALL about the food.

Wellies are lined up just waiting...

 where vegetables are 'literally picked this morning' before being served up on your plate.

Food not grown or raised on site is sourced from one of the suppliers 

within a twenty five mile radius. 

I am loving the green room at this perfect country house, 

for that weekend you just want to run away...

and spend your days and nights eating and sleeping.

Date night at...

was surprisingly entertaining...

with middle aged women screaming like teenagers on the front row...

as Michael Ball...

their teenage heart throb,

 brilliantly performed one show tune after another.
Meanwhile...
I kept having flashbacks of the Hugh Grant character in Music and Lyrics...

but by the time his encore had the entire audience on its feet,
we were right there with the swaying crowd.

Our long weekend in Southampton pushed all the right buttons...
comfy hotel, amazing food, an island and a 'forest', and good music.
It was magical.
