"The little fishing boat anchors right off the shore of Gili Meno. There are no docks here on this island. You have to roll up your pants, jump off the boat and wade in through the surf on your own power. There's absolutely no way to do this without getting soaking wet or even banged up on the coral, but it's worth all the trouble because the beach here is so beautiful, so special" ~ Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

When reminiscing of our recent journey to the Gili Islands...
hanging pineapples...
motor-less modes of transportation...
and this view by the pool
immediately pop into mind.

Off the Northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia,
many boating options await for your transport...
to one of the three Gili Islands...
Gili Air,
Gili Meno...
and our home for a few days...
Gili Trawangan or Gili T to locals.
Food and drink also travel by boat to the islands...
where women carry unbelievable weight on their heads
from boat to horse-drawn cart (cidomo) for delivery.
Quite impressive.
On the recommendation of a colleague of Renman,
we chose centrally located, Scallywags...
for our hangout...
between dives with Blue Marlin down the street.
Each evening we would dodge bicycles and horses and chickens...
as we moseyed to the southern tip of the island...
where businesses take full advantage...
of the sunset.
Casa Vintage...
with its fab food...(best oreo cheesecake EVER)
 reggae music declaring one heart...
multiple choices for total relaxation, and a...
what's not to love.

Casa Vintage will be my hangout...
if I ever go into exile and live on Gili T....
to become a mermaid.
