proving there is more to this city than the port where cruise ships dock for a few hours each day to whisk passengers away.
The life of the sea is never far away from the stories of Southampton,
and this 'church of the sailors' is a testament to their importance.
Built in 1320, the Holyrood Church was one of five churches in the original walled town, but was destroyed during the blitz of November, 1940.
It is always a bonus when our travels are embellished
with a dose of history to keep it real.
