"Give a girl an education and introduce her properly into the world, and ten to one but she has the means of settling well, without further expense to anybody." ~ Jane Austen, Mansfield Park

Weeks ago, I mentioned right here on Traveling Simile,
a social action campaign whose main goal is to educate girls around the world.

" We use the power of storytelling and the leverage of strategic partnerships to deliver a single message: educating girls in developing nations will change the world."

Their film, Girl Rising, shares nine stories written by nine authors from nine countries and narrated by nine well-known actors
with hopes of inspiring many to take action.
So...
I felt it deserved its very own post.

In America, the film premiered on International Women's Day and is being screened in select theatres.
Find a screening here.
Unfortunately, it will be later this Spring before it is available abroad.

Many levels of participation are available with their partners in this movement.
Although the needs seem huge and overwhelming, I am determined not to let that stop me from finding the best way for me to be involved personally.

Even Jane Austen knew the importance of providing an education for girls.

Happy Thursday.
