Being our second Guy Fawkes celebration and all...
when the fireworks started this past weekend, we knew exactly what was going on.
We will head down to the beach later tonight for the fireworks display set to the music of Skyfall and other Bond films.
In other cities...
a bonfire leads up to the fireworks where they burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes...
and sometimes a public figure currently in the HOT seat.
The Edenbridge Bonfire Society in Kent chose Lance Armstrong this year to burn at the stake.
Nursery rhymes are taught in school which have helped this tradition hold its place on event calendars every year for over 400 years.
It seems Anonymous, who use the Guy Fawkes mask as a symbol of their social crusade, is still threatening to "occupy"...
previously referred to as 'hacking'...
Facebook and now paypal and other online services.
I wish they would put their talent to some real use like getting rid of the ads that appear on my facebook feed.
Just kidding!
I do not support their crusade in any way.
The Truth About Guy Fawkes Day is an interesting read and makes a valid point.
It is a celebration of the failure of the gunpowder plot...
not the gunpowder plot itself.
