While sipping my coffee in the sunroom this past Saturday...
faint notes of bagpipes in the distance floated through the window.
As time passed, the sound became stronger...
until curiosity got the best of me.
Standing in line, at ease, were those connected to the armed forces, preparing to march proudly through town...
in celebration of Armed Forces Day.
The sheer number of pipers was overwhelming and before I knew it, as they rounded the corner...
tears were streaming down my face.
The pride on their faces as they walked the entire route,
standing erect was heartwarming.
Even the young whippersnappers towards the end were doing their best to keep up with the more 'experienced' members leading the way.
An excellent tribute to those who have served their country...
by those who have served their country.
Apparently, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
is also an emotional event held in August with the castle as a backdrop.
Another item on the list!
