Last week flew by as I continued to unpack and find a place for all my personals...
when Thursday rolled around...
I realized that Flat Stanley had been doing his best to stay out of the way of heavy boxes...
meanwhile...
he has not even walked around Aberdeen...
so off we went...
He was impressed with His Majesty's Theatre...
designed by Frank Matcham, opened in 1906...
and will launch it's new restaurant on May 10th...
When Stanley realized that the statue in the background...
created in 1888...
was William Wallace...
he wanted a closer look at the historical figure made famous in America, by Mel Gibson in Braveheart (1995)...
you remember...
"they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!"
In Scotland, William Wallace has long been remembered as an uncompromising defender of his countries independence...
South of here...
Not so much...
they see it differently...
He overlooks the peaceful...
and beautiful Union Terrace Gardens...
a sunken garden opened to the public in 1879.
Unfortunately, I was unable to show Stanley the Aberdeen Harbour...
which is such a vibrant part of the city...
he did not seem to mind...
because later we had tea with a family out in the pastoral countryside of Aberdeen...
where he made two new friends...
who made him feel right at home...
thanks guys...
the brownies were de-lish!
